The Goods and Services Tax (GST) authorities are set to launch the ‘Mera Bill Mera Adhikaar’ scheme on September 1st, aiming to encourage consumers to request invoices for their purchases. Initially rolling out in Haryana, Assam, Gujarat, and the union territories of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu, and Puducherry, this scheme holds exciting opportunities for citizens.
Named ‘mera bill mera adhikaar’, the scheme offers participants the chance to win substantial prizes, including ₹1 crore, ₹10 lakh, or ₹10,000 in a lucky draw. The eligibility criteria for the draw encompass invoices valued up to ₹200, issued by GST-registered sellers. An individual can submit up to 25 invoices per month for consideration.
This strategic move is part of ongoing efforts by tax authorities to bolster GST compliance. Leveraging enhanced reporting requirements, data analytics, and various measures, the government has steadily boosted tax compliance. This, in conjunction with robust economic growth, has led to notable improvements in GST collections. The union government and states jointly collected ₹1.65 trillion in July, marking the third-largest monthly collection since the inception of GST in 2017.
Stay tuned for the launch of ‘Mera Bill Mera Adhikaar’ and make the most of this opportunity to not only support invoicing but also stand a chance to win valuable rewards. Embrace this scheme to contribute to a more compliant and efficient tax ecosystem.
